Breaking News: Avalanche on Andromeda Kills Two Climbers

Jasper National Park official says the slab avalanche took place Sunday morning

An avalanche took place on Mount Andromeda earlier today and took the life of two climbers. STARS Air Ambulance had dispatched three helicopters to the area. Spokeswoman Deborah Tetley says the choppers later “stood down” because they were “not medically required.”

Steve Young, a communications officer with Jasper National Park, says the slab avalanche occurred Sunday morning. There were no other reported injuries. Young did not have any information about the identities or home towns of those who died.

This is a developing story that we’ll update once there is more information.
